About the Carolina Panthers

A relatively new franchise, the Carolina Panthers joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1995. Representing both North Carolina and South Carolina in the league, the Panthers are currently members of the NFC’s South Division. The Panthers have experienced great success for such a young franchise. They have won three division titles and have made the playoffs four times. Nicknamed “The Cardiac Cats,” the 2003 Panthers squad even made it to Super Bowl XXXVIII. This was an incredible accomplishment, not only because they had been in existence for such a short period of time but also because they had a 1-15 season only two years prior.
